Danae Dörken

Danae Dörken is a German pianist of German and Greek heritage. At age five, she began studying piano with Marina Kheifets, and in six months of starting lessons she won her first piano competition. A winner of many competitions since, Dörken notably won the Prix Unique, an award created especially for her as the youngest participant at the International Competition for Young Musicians in Enschede, Netherlands. In 1999, she performed for Yehudi Menuhin, who lent his support to her career. Between 2002 and 2012, she studied in the master class of Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, and following his death, became a student of Lars Vogt. She has appeared at many music festivals, including the Kissinger Summer festival, the Schwetzinger SWR Festspiele, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, and the chamber music festival Voltage, held in the RWE Power Plant in Heimbach. She has performed as a solo recitalist and as an accompanist with cellist Gustav Rivinius, soprano Christiane Oelze, and violinist Carolin Widmann, and appeared in concert with pianists Katia and Marielle Lebèque. Dörken has recorded for Ars Produktion.
