Anang

Born on March 18, 1969 in Jember, East Java, Indonesian musician, producer, and politician Anang Hermansyah first developed a serious taste for music while studying at university in Bandung and began jamming in the studio of Sundanese artist Doel Sumbang. Shortly after, he joined the band Kidnap Katrina and eventually moved to Jakarta in 1989, stepping out with his debut solo album, Biarkanlah, in 1992. Aside from carving his own path as a solo singer, the double Indonesian Music Award winner has also enjoyed a successful political career in tandem with his musical one, serving as a member of the People's Representative Council from the East Java IV constituency from 2014 until 2019. He has accrued a producing portfolio, working as a songwriter, arranger, and producer for several singers – including his ex-wife, the popstar Krisdayanti – while also managing the recording studio, Studio Hijau. In 2007, he became a judge on Indonesian Idol and divorced Krisdayanti – with whom he had released a number of duet albums over the years, including Cinta (1996), Kasih (1997), and Makin Aku Cinta (2000) – two years later. He has released seven solo albums to date, including 2009's Separuh Jiwaku Pergi. In 2011, he teamed up with new wife and collaborator Ashanty for duet album Jodohku. The 2010s marked a foray into acting, working on 2013 drama film Romantini. In 2021, he returned to music with elegant orchestral pop single "Cinta Tanpa Syarat," released in collaboration with Ashanty.
