El Mega

Dominican-American producer DJ Kass was born Luis Rosa on August 28, 1987, in the Dominican Republic. Raised in the Bronx, he was exposed to a wide array of eclectic musical genres from a very young age, mostly thanks to his father's influence as a DJ. Embarking on a music journey, by 2013 he had carved a niche for himself in the Dyckman area of Washington Heights, Manhattan, spinning tracks in vibrant nightclubs. His single "Tamo Open Yo," released in 2016, became a sensation, reaching Number 2 on the Dominican streaming charts and subsequently receiving a remix touch from El Alfa the following year. In 2017, DJ Kass got his breakthrough with the hit "Scooby Doo Pa Pa," a dembow-flavored track that propelled him to international fame. The song, influenced by Big Shaq's "Man's Not Hot," gained viral momentum after influencers Lele Pons and Inanna Sarkis showcased their dance moves to it on social media. This popularity boost helped "Scooby Doo Pa Pa" become the first dembow track to ever crack the Top 10 of Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart, peaking at Number 9. DJ Kass's continuous rise saw him collaborate with global superstar Pitbull on an official remix of "Scooby Doo Pa Pa," unveiled at Alex Sensation's Miami Bash in 2018. Amidst the fame, controversies also loomed as DJ Kass faced plagiarism charges, leading to the song's removal from video-streaming platforms. Despite these allegations, the song was chosen by Adam Rippon and Jenna Johson for their performance in the finale stage of ABC's Dancing with the Stars in 2018.
