Neo-Soul in 10 Alben

Mitte der 90er Jahre, als der Hip-Hop sein goldenes Zeitalter erlebte, begann auch der Soul seine Revolution. Mit Erykah Badu, D'Angelo, Jill Scott und einigen anderen gewinnt das Genre die Klasse, Nüchternheit und Raffinesse zurück, die die Alben von Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield oder Roberta Flack belebt haben. Nach den Jahren der ultrakommerziellen sirupartigen R&B-Herrschaft belebt der Neo-Soul (oder auch Nu-Soul), der viel mehr Underground war, die Flamme des ursprünglichen Soul, in seinen Arrangements wie in seinen Texten. Eine kleine aber sehr einflussreiche Bewegung.

Das goldene Funk-Zeitalter des James Brown

Zwischen 1967 und 1974 wandelte der Godfather seine Soul-Musik in Funk um. Mithilfe der zu diesem Zeitpunkt groovigsten Musiker überhaupt lieferte James Brown Songs, die zu den damaligen Brüchen innerhalb der amerikanischen Gesellschaft passten. Jeder wollte mit einsteigen in die Sex Machine!
