This short eight-song set of the Marvelettes' live show pales when compared to later live efforts aided by new technology, but in 1963, when this was released, there wasn't much to compare it to. The group had trimmed to a quartet of Georgeanna Tilman, Wanda Young, Gladys Horton, and Katherine Anderson. A coupling of "Strange I Know" and "Someday, Someway" was their best effort; they sounded mature beyond their years on these sensitive ballads written by Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier, and Freddie Gorman. You can almost feel the excitement on "Twistin' Postman" -- they may not have been the best female singing group at Motown, but they were definitely the most dynamic. Wanda Young-Rogers displays her falsetto on "So Long Baby," a popular number for the Inkster, MI. natives. They close with "Playboy" to applause, screams, and wolf whistles.
