Le Beatle présente un des coffrets les plus ambitieux de sa carrière avec cette box qui rassemble quelque 160 titres, choisis par Macca himself. On y trouve 65 singles accompagnés de leurs faces B, sortis dans différents pays du monde, complétés par une quinzaine de singles inédits en 45 tours (pour la version physique collector dans un joli coffret en bois) et autres démos/promos, le tout remastérisé et gravé aux studios d’Abbey Road de Londres évidemment.
Un vertigineux voyage de dix heures parmi les plus grosses ventes de McCartney en cinquante ans de carrière solo – ça doit en faire des top Billboard ! La rétrospective démarre avec Another Day, son premier single après la séparation des Beatles en 1970, coécrit avec sa femme Linda durant les sessions de Ram des Wings (un succès immédiat, n°2 en Angleterre et n°5 aux USA) et qui se termine par Women and Wives, extrait de son dernier album McCartney III, écrit et composé tout en solo dans sa ferme du Sussex durant le confinement.
Entre-temps, on sera passé par Live and Let Die, composé pour la bande-son de James Bond en 1973, une version live à La Haye de The Mess, son tube proto-électronique Temporary Secretary, ses hits des 80’s avec Stevie Wonder et Michael Jackson Ebony and Ivory et Say Say Say, jusqu’aux années 2010 avec Fuh You et Come On to Me, tous deux extraits d’Egypt Station, son album de 2018 sur lequel il montrait que, soixante ans après ses débuts, il n’avait rien perdu de son sens de la pop. © Smaël Bouaici/Qobuz

Et voilà une nouvelle orgie pour les fans de Paul McCartney ! Le Beatle présente un des coffrets les plus ambitieux de sa carrière avec cette box qui rassemble quelque 160 titres, choisis par Macca himself. On y trouve 65 singles accompagnés de leurs faces B, sortis dans différents pays du monde, complétés par une quinzaine de singles inédits en 45 tours (pour la version physique collector dans un joli coffret en bois) et autres démos/promos, le tout remastérisé et gravé aux studios d’Abbey Road de Londres évidemment.
Un vertigineux voyage de dix heures parmi les plus grosses ventes de McCartney en cinquante ans de carrière solo – ça doit en faire des top Billboard ! La rétrospective démarre avec Another Day, son premier single après la séparation des Beatles en 1970, coécrit avec sa femme Linda durant les sessions de Ram des Wings (un succès immédiat, n°2 en Angleterre et n°5 aux USA) et qui se termine par Women and Wives, extrait de son dernier album McCartney III, écrit et composé tout en solo dans sa ferme du Sussex durant le confinement.
Entre-temps, on sera passé par Live and Let Die, composé pour la bande-son de James Bond en 1973, une version live à La Haye de The Mess, son tube proto-électronique Temporary Secretary, ses hits des 80’s avec Stevie Wonder et Michael Jackson Ebony and Ivory et Say Say Say, jusqu’aux années 2010 avec Fuh You et Come On to Me, tous deux extraits d’Egypt Station, son album de 2018 sur lequel il montrait que, soixante ans après ses débuts, il n’avait rien perdu de son sens de la pop. © Smaël Bouaici/Qobuz
