« And now, for something completely different », comme disaient les Monty Python : avec cet album quasi-homonyme du précedent, Robbie Williams prend, artistiquement, le contre-pied total de ce qui constituait jusque-là sa production. La pop star veut explicitement marcher sur les traces de grands crooners comme Frank Sinatra ou Dean Martin, dont il reprend le style et une partie du répertoire, en interprétant certains standards : il s’en tire tout à fait bien et prouve la plasticité de son talent de chanteur, montrant sa capacité à swinguer avec autant de naturel qu’il chante sur des rythmes pop contemporains. Un bel album, qui va au-delà du caprice de star.

« And now, for something completely different », comme disaient les Monty Python : avec cet album quasi-homonyme du précedent, Robbie Williams prend, artistiquement, le contre-pied total de ce qui constituait jusque-là sa production. La pop star veut explicitement marcher sur les traces de grands crooners comme Frank Sinatra ou Dean Martin, dont il reprend le style et une partie du répertoire, en interprétant certains standards : il s’en tire tout à fait bien et prouve la plasticité de son talent de chanteur, montrant sa capacité à swinguer avec autant de naturel qu’il chante sur des rythmes pop contemporains. Un bel album, qui va au-delà du caprice de star.
