La cantate pascale Lazarus fait partie des très nombreux inachevés de Schubert. On ne peut que le regretter lorsqu'on écoute l'interprétation sensible et presque hallucinée qu'en donne ici Frieder Bernius et son équipe de solistes remarquables. Commencée en 1820 dans des circonstances inconnues, c'est du très grand Schubert et on reste perplexe devant la méconnaissance dans laquelle on tient cette œuvre étonnante. On y parle de l'expérience de la mort (un thème qui fascinait le compositeur) et de souffrances illuminées par la foi. Il se dégage de cette partition inaboutie un climat de paix surprenant. Une découverte absolue. FH
