L’indéboulonnable Modfather ne lâche pas l’affaire ! L’année de ses 57 ans, Paul Weller offre même une hargne et une créativité impressionnante alors qu’il n’a plus rien à prouver. Ce douzième album solo de l’ancien cerveau des Jam impressionne surtout par sa propension à oser l’expérimentation, à creuser dans le terreau de nouveaux sons et à livrer des compositions vraiment originales. Saturns Pattern ne cherche pas la chanson rock’n’soul mais plutôt à construire à partir d’une fusion introspective quasi-psychédélique lorgnant aussi bien vers Traffic que Love, le Jefferson Airplane, Captain Beefheart voire, plus près de nous, Tame Impala.
