Publié en 2018 et succédant au très remarqué Communion de 2015, Palo Santo constitue le deuxième effort studio du trio electropop britannique Years & Years. Accompagné par un court métrage de 15 minutes réalisé par Fred Rowson axé autour du concept dystopique lui servant de colonne vertébrale, Palo Santo voit le chanteur Olly Alexander explorer le sujet de l'avenir de la sexualité et du genre, mettant son androgynie au service du sujet depuis les vidéos du groupe jusque dans son approche vocale réminiscente de ses influences majeures, Lady Gaga et Michael Jackson. Fort de cette approche engagée et d'une production impeccable aux saveurs synthpop nostalgiques, l'album confirme l'engouement pour Years & Years en entrant en troisième position des classements anglais.
