Avant tous ceux qui figurent dans cet album de reprises, le premier duo auquel on pense à l’évocation d’Eddy Mitchell, c’est celui qu’il forme avec son fidèle compositeur Pierre Papadiamandis. Avec lui à la musique et Eddy/Claude Moine aux paroles, on leur doit plus de 200 joyaux populaires de la variété française, comme La Dernière Séance ou Couleur menthe à l’eau. Dans ce volume 2 de La Même Tribu, cette dernière chanson est co-interprétée avec Juliette Armanet, dont la voix claire et sucrée apporte une certaine mélancolie à ce standard des années 80. Non loin de là, on pourra apprécier la prestation de son aînée (et modèle) Véronique Sanson pour une reprise d’un autre tube intemporel, Le Cimetière des éléphants, dont la couleur orchestrale rappelle ici les grandes heures de la grande variété américaine à la Burt Bacharach. Dans un style moins crooner, mais plus swinguant et déluré, Eddy Mitchell ne pouvait faire l’impasse sur Vielle Canaille (avec Féfé) et Pas de boogie-woogie (avec Calogero). Le passionné de westerns a également voulu mettre à l’honneur ses chansons les plus cinéphiliques, comme les incontournables Rio Grande (avec Laurent Voulzy) et La Dernière Séance (avec une Cécile de France au charme fragile), mais aussi le moins connu et pourtant tout aussi émouvant L’Esprit grande prairie (avec Pascal Obispo). Malgré les nouveaux arrangements (auxquels participe naturellement son fidèle saxophoniste Michel Gaucher) et les nouvelles interprétations, on retrouvera ici toute la quintessence de l’univers singulier d’Eddy Mitchell - entre humour, nostalgie, énergie et amour de la belle mélodie. © Nicolas Magenham/Qobuz

Avant tous ceux qui figurent dans cet album de reprises, le premier duo auquel on pense à l’évocation d’Eddy Mitchell, c’est celui qu’il forme avec son fidèle compositeur Pierre Papadiamandis. Avec lui à la musique et Eddy/Claude Moine aux paroles, on leur doit plus de 200 joyaux populaires de la variété française, comme La Dernière Séance ou Couleur menthe à l’eau. Dans ce volume 2 de La Même Tribu, cette dernière chanson est co-interprétée avec Juliette Armanet, dont la voix claire et sucrée apporte une certaine mélancolie à ce standard des années 80. Non loin de là, on pourra apprécier la prestation de son aînée (et modèle) Véronique Sanson pour une reprise d’un autre tube intemporel, Le Cimetière des éléphants, dont la couleur orchestrale rappelle ici les grandes heures de la grande variété américaine à la Burt Bacharach. Dans un style moins crooner, mais plus swinguant et déluré, Eddy Mitchell ne pouvait faire l’impasse sur Vielle Canaille (avec Féfé) et Pas de boogie-woogie (avec Calogero). Le passionné de westerns a également voulu mettre à l’honneur ses chansons les plus cinéphiliques, comme les incontournables Rio Grande (avec Laurent Voulzy) et La Dernière Séance (avec une Cécile de France au charme fragile), mais aussi le moins connu et pourtant tout aussi émouvant L’Esprit grande prairie (avec Pascal Obispo). Malgré les nouveaux arrangements (auxquels participe naturellement son fidèle saxophoniste Michel Gaucher) et les nouvelles interprétations, on retrouvera ici toute la quintessence de l’univers singulier d’Eddy Mitchell - entre humour, nostalgie, énergie et amour de la belle mélodie. © Nicolas Magenham/Qobuz
