Following four EPs that date back to 2015's piano-based covers set Soulfood Sessions, KiKi is the first album from Kiana Ledé. It continues in the mode of 2018's Selfless and 2019's Myself, offering fluid slow jams and ballads with occasional flashbacks (such as an interpolation of OutKast's "So Fresh, So Clean" on "Mad at Me"). Three straight tracks feature Ari Lennox, Lucky Daye, and 6LACK as guest artists, all smart choices for collaborators -- established, slightly unconventional R&B artists with strong personalities -- who affirm the singer and writer's target audience.
