Publié chez Island Records en 2020 et succédant à Wonderful Wonderful (2017), Imploding the Mirage voit la formation de rock alternatif The Killers revenir avec une formule gagnante après deux efforts ayant côtoyé les cimes des charts mais ayant néanmoins failli à retrouver le volume de ventes de ses premiers efforts, Hot Fuss (2004) et Sam's Town (2006). Par ailleurs réduits à deux membres originaux, les ambassadeurs de la scène de Las Vegas retrouvent une magie à la croisée de Sam's Town et des efforts solo du chanteur Brandon Flower, mâtinant leur heartland rock aux touches synthétiques d'une approche résolument taillée pour les stades. Bénéficiant par ailleurs d'interventions signées k.d. lang, Adam Granduciel (The War On Drugs) ou Lindsey Buckingham, Imploding the Mirage décroche notamment la huitième place des charts à domicile.
