Sur ce quatrième album studio, Chimène Badi s'éloigne encore un peu plus de ses débuts dans Popstars. L'album s'inscrit dans la direction soul qu'elle avait prise en 2010 avec Laisse-les dire. Elle reprend 12 titres qui ont inspiré sa carrière de chanteuse. Produit par Régis Ceccarelli (Patrick Bruel, Alain Souchon), l'album comprend des interprétations de tubes en langue anglaise ("For Once in My Life" de Stevie Wonder, "Try a Little Tenderness" d'Otis Redding, "The World Today Is a Mess" de Donna Hightower) et en français ("Parlez-moi de lui" de Nicole Croisille et "Ma liberté" de Georges Moustaki) ainsi qu'un duo avec le chanteur de soul récompensé aux Grammy, Billy Paul ("Ain't No Mountain High Enough").
