Dignes héritiers des légendaires OutKast, le duo EarthGang, également originaire d’Atlanta, livre un quatrième album d’une grande inventivité. Coproduit par Kawan Prather, membre du collectif Dungeon Family, il est empreint de la folie qui caractérise EarthGang, de leur volonté d’alternative sonore comme Dilated Peoples ou Jurassic 5 en leur temps. Il y a certes quelque chose d’enfantin dans cet excellent album, des rires désinvoltes au milieu des bruits de machines à sous et des coups de feu. Cette esthétique, représentée par le titre éponyme qui sait manier les enchevêtrements complexes de synthétiseurs martiaux, convoque une armée de beatmakers. Il y a aussi des invités vocaux de marque : Future sur ce drôle de morceau qu’est BILLI, le survolté CeeLo Green sur Power, ou encore Ari Lennox sur le soulful RUN TOO. Chacun est à sa place, parfois à contre-emploi, mais toujours animé d’une furieuse envie de faire briller le duo hôte.
