Black Stone Cherry fait preuve d'une maturité de bon aloi pour son deuxième album. Black Stone Cherry, sorti en 2006, est déjà largement estimable, sans être vraiment au-dessus Folklore and Superstition confirme, ce qui est le plus dur pour un second album.
D'abord la voix de Chris Robertson est vraiment impeccable, gorgée de ce feeling propre au rock sudiste, cette modulation romantique tellement vieux sud. Ensuite les guitares, Ben Wells et Chris Robertson sans être des virtuoses, sonnent juste en permanence. Lyriques quand il faut, rageurs quand il se doit, un régal. Sans compter des arrangements parfaits de finesse et une section rythmique parfaitement adaptée.
Sans aucun temps mort, Folklore and Superstition offre seize titres extrêmement compacts, « Things My father Said » est déjà un classique , « Blind Man » , « Reverend Wrinkle », « Long Sleeves » et surtout « The Key » sont des morceaux de bravoure qui gagneraient à être encore étirés.
Black Stone Cherry, sans copier qui que ce soit, sonnent comme un groupe de rock classique, les concernant c'est un véritable compliment.
