C’est un bien tendre duel qui « oppose » ici Cecilia Bartoli et la violoncelliste Sol Gabetta, si l’on peut même parler d’opposition. Car les deux stars ont choisi de choisir, dans le répertoire baroque, quelques-uns de ces airs dans lesquels les compositeurs ont inclus une partie obligée de violoncelle, les deux lignes s’entrelaçant amoureusement sur le tapis du continuo ou de l’orchestre. Albinoni, Caldara, Haendel et tant d’autres ont souvent marié la voix grave du violoncelle et celle, aérienne, de la soprano, en jeux de miroirs, de contrastes, de je-t’aime-moi-non-plus… Ce programme hautement original bénéficie ici, outre le talent évident des deux duellistes, de la complicité des témoins que sont la Capella Gabetta menés par le violoniste Andrés Gabetta – certes, il n’était pas d’usage lors des duels du temps passé que les témoins fussent de la famille, mais dans le cas précis, ils sont d’une équité parfaite. Il est vrai qu’il n’y a pas mort d’homme, ni de femme ! Cet album, hautement original, est une des très belles surprises de la rentrée. © SM/Qobuz
