L'ambition théâtrale de Lady Gaga qui consiste à marier dans ses titres club le son rebelle du rock & roll avec son beat disco, transforme Born This Way en Like a Prayer en passant par Bat Out of Hell. Elle recontextualise sciemment le collage postmoderne de Madonna et les similitudes discrètes avec l'artiste nous rappellent clairement que Gaga est l'héritière du trône de la diva. Son vrai talent réside dans sa dextérité à nous offrir les basiques. Son titre “Marry the Night” brille d'une impulsion au néon, “Born This Way” a le vertige de sa suffisance, “Judas” transforme “Alejandro” en un disco gothique imposant ; elle complète sa fusion métal disco avec “Bad Kids”, tout en montrant une certaine vulnérabilité avec “You and I”.
