Certes, la Discothèque idéale a déjà mis en avant un enregistrement du sublime Oratorio de Noël de Bach, tel que dirigé par Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Mais tout le monde n’aime pas les instruments baroques, tout le monde n’aime pas les chœurs de garçons, tout le monde n’aime pas les voix de contre-ténors dans les arias d’alto, et les auditeurs affligés de l'oreille absolue auront du mal avec des ré bémol majeur et tout le décalage imposé par le diapason « à l'ancienne ». Alors pour ces auditeurs rétifs, nous avons sélectionné l’une des plus belles interprétations « classiques », avec des voix pleinement lyriques : Helen Donath, Marjana Lipovsek, Eberhard Büchner, Robert Holl et Peter Schreier qui, non content de chanter les parties de l’évangéliste, dirige également tout le monde à la tête de la Staatskapelle de Dresde. Schreier a quand même su intégrer les enseignements des baroqueux, en particulier dans les équilibres, les phrasés, les articulations, les tempi, les masses sonores, de sorte que l’on dispose ici d’une véritable interprétation moderne à l’ancienne. A notre sens, c’est la plus réussie d’entre celles-là, et de loin, loin, très loin. © SM/Qobuz

Certes, la Discothèque idéale a déjà mis en avant un enregistrement du sublime Oratorio de Noël de Bach, tel que dirigé par Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Mais tout le monde n’aime pas les instruments baroques, tout le monde n’aime pas les chœurs de garçons, tout le monde n’aime pas les voix de contre-ténors dans les arias d’alto, et les auditeurs affligés de l'oreille absolue auront du mal avec des ré bémol majeur et tout le décalage imposé par le diapason « à l'ancienne ». Alors pour ces auditeurs rétifs, nous avons sélectionné l’une des plus belles interprétations « classiques », avec des voix pleinement lyriques : Helen Donath, Marjana Lipovsek, Eberhard Büchner, Robert Holl et Peter Schreier qui, non content de chanter les parties de l’évangéliste, dirige également tout le monde à la tête de la Staatskapelle de Dresde. Schreier a quand même su intégrer les enseignements des baroqueux, en particulier dans les équilibres, les phrasés, les articulations, les tempi, les masses sonores, de sorte que l’on dispose ici d’une véritable interprétation moderne à l’ancienne. A notre sens, c’est la plus réussie d’entre celles-là, et de loin, loin, très loin. © SM/Qobuz
