Projects like 2017's Brick Body Kids Still Daydream resonate as politically-charged efforts to define struggle amongst marginalized communities whereas 2020's Anime, Trauma, and Divorce was a defined personal battle. Collaborations abound, with projects like Previous Industries (with Video Dave and Still Rift) tackling the death of childhood retail touchstones and proliferation of gentrification. In all cases, his trademark humor leads the listeners through tough times and where there is travail you can bet Open Mike Eagle is finding the light in darkness.
