Boa
South Korean singer and actress BoA, widely known as the "Queen of K-Pop," was born Bo-Ah Kwon on November 5, 1986, in Namyangju, South Korea. Over the course of her career, the performer has sold more than 10 million records and achieved a groundbreaking feat with six consecutive Number 1 studio albums on the Oricon charts. Discovered by SM Entertainment at the age of 11, Kwon debuted with her first Korean album, ID; Peace B, in 2000, followed by her inaugural Japanese record, Listen to My Heart, in 2002, making her the sole foreign artist to surpass a million copies in Japan. Her U.S. debut single, "Eat You Up," hit in 2008, paving the way for her self-titled English debut album the subsequent year. Kwon contributed her voice to the Korean version of the animated film Over The Hedge in 2006 and served as a judge on the initial two seasons of the reality show K-pop Star (2011-2013). In 2020, she released her tenth Korean album, Better, also lending her coaching prowess to contestants on the third season of The Voice of Korea. Her eighth compilation album The Greatest landed on May 30, 2022, reaching number 29 on the charts, preceded by the single "My Dear," unveiling her 3rd mini album Forgive Me in November. BoA's hit 2004 holiday track "Meri Kuri" experienced a resurgence, climbing to number 41 on Japan's Top 100 Singles chart.
