Blessed with a startlingly clear high register, David Phelps has been a mainstay of the contemporary gospel circuit, both as a solo artist and as the lead singer of the Gaither Vocal Band. THE VOICE is Phelps' move into the pop-oriented Contemporary Christian Music market. Much like the similarly gifted Josh Groban, Phelps blends familiar pop hits like "Unchained Melody" and Foreigner's "I Want To Know What Love Is" with more traditionally minded spiritual and gospel material on THE VOICE. The whole is accompanied by florid orchestral arrangements and occasional vocal choirs.
