Sony opens once again its treasure chest. After The Basement Tapes Raw in 2014, followed by The Cutting Edge the following year, this is today a new extraordinary Dylan compilation that the label offers: Live 1962-1966 - Rare Performances from the Copyright Collections. Some rare performances from the master of folk, only available to this day on very limited editions, are now gathered on this double disc of 29 tracks.
This special edition of the Japanese tour is a true gem! Firstly, it offers recordings that weren’t originally intended for the public, and furthermore can perfectly be part of a compilation. The promise of an authentic listening is held. Second strong point: the target era. The one from the Gerde’s Folk City in 1962 in which Dylan performs his first concert, his legendary performances in 1963 in the New York City Hall and at Carnegie Hall, as well as his duo with Joan Baez for the March on Washington on August 28, 1963 and his worldwide tours in 1965-1966. The singer has kept busy during these years looking for his musical identity. Offering to listen to the new and stylized folk of his beginnings, this Live 1962-1966 - Rare Performances from the Copyright Collections also offers his first rock period. Starting in 1964, he opens a new path. On this second CD, the transition is obvious, notably with this live from May 1966 at the Capitol Theatre in Cardiff where he plays a legendary folk rock: I Don't Believe You (She Acts Like We Never Have Met).
