Andy Williams' unique vocal gifts have hints of Dean Martin and Perry Como, and a touch of Tony Bennett. His choice of material has always been romantic ballads, but through the passing years he has fortified his romantic baritone with country, rock, and European-flavored settings. 16 Most Requested Songs is true to its title, including all of his best-loved songs from the 1950s and '60s. "Can't Get Used to Losing You" has all the ingredients of the best Andy Williams hits: a catchy tempo and melody, along with Williams' purity of tone and emotion. Rich in feeling, his technique is steady and tactfully restrained. Henry Mancini's "Moon River" (from Breakfast at Tiffany's) floats in a current of misty feelings and enchanting echoes. "Born Free" and "The Impossible Dream" are also typical of Andy Williams' vocal magic. He sings these songs with polish and bravado, creating works of inspiration and hope.
