Os Black Eyed Peas ficaram no topo das paradas por muito tempo nos anos 2000, mas após o lançamento de The Beginning em 2010, eles só tinham lançado mais um álbum na década de 10, voltado às raízes no rap. Após a saída de Fergie e o insucesso comercial de Masters of the Sun (2018), eles retornaram com força ao pop-rap com muito electro pop em Translation (2020). Eles foram pontuais na escolha das tendências e apostaram forte no pop latino, o que fica explícito na lista de convidados do álbum, como J. Balvin, Ozuna, Shakira, Maluma e Becky G, entre muitos outros. Há muita influência dos ritmos latinos, mas sempre com a essência das pistas de dança típica do conjunto. J. Rey Soul, que também aparece como colaboradora no disco, foi incorporada ao grupo na turnê do álbum. Entre os singles de destaque, estão "MAMACITA" e "RITMO".
