Bala Desejo

Bala Desejo is a Brazilian musical group formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2020, made up of Dora Morelenbaum, Julia Mestre, Lucas Nunes and Zé Ibarra, who have been friends since their school days. The group's style blends various genres, with a focus on reprising the Brazilian avant-garde music of the 1970s. In 2020, each of the group members were pursuing their own musical careers when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, moving in together before the imminent quarantine and their residence became a place of immersion and experimentation, resulting in a sound that was both nostalgic and avant-garde. Invited to perform at the Coala Festival in 2021, which was indefinitely postponed, the four decided to record an album, and Sim Sim Sim was released on February 16, 2022 in two parts, as a nod to the vinyl tradition. The album was received well by critics and fans alike and the band has since performed at popular festivals including Rock in Rio and Primavera Sound and in 2023, the group collaborated with DJs and producers Malifoo and DUAL CHANNELS to release a remix of their album's single "Passarinha". Bala Desejo continues to push boundaries and innovate with their music and is considered one of the most exciting emerging acts in the Brazilian music scene.
