Former show Label Pop that used to run on French radio France Musique left a few great moments behind. The one spent with Howe Gelb has risen from the dead thanks to the Microcultures label that had already worked on the sessions recorded by Elvis Perkins, Powerdove and Tuung at the Maison de la Radio. It features, in powerful intimacy, seven tracks that the crooner from Tucson, Arizona – with his acoustic guitar, a piano and a celesta – draws from his last few albums, and even from Giant Sand’s vast discography (Not The End Of The World). Simple and stripped bare. After Future Standards and Further Standards and their smell of blue smoke and leathers, Gelb presents himself here in an even deeper intimacy, where he moves these classy club atmospheres to the side to offer an unabashed, raw and transparent confession, just 32 minutes of straight-out folk-rock.
