Giant Steps (1960) é a estreia de John Coltrane na Atlantic Records e a realização de todo o potencial que ele tinha demonstrado em conjunto com Miles Davis e Thelonious Monk e em suas próprias gravações na gravadora Prestige. Este é o primeiro trabalho em que Coltrane apresentou suas composições originais e é também o ápice de sua obsessiva exploração da harmonia.
