Like yoga practitioners, many people have enjoyed practicing their Pilates routines to music. However, CLASSICS FOR PILATES (part of Denon's "Classics" series) need not be limited to a Pilates studio. It can be enjoyed in any setting (or as a backdrop for just about any activity). Made up of some of the most transcendent European classical music ever composed, this album features serene themes from Gustav Holst, Maurice Ravel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and many others. For example, Felix Mendelssohn's "Song Without Words" is an excellent choice for this collection. Deeply meditative, tranquil, and elegant, this piece is marked by an elegant, plaintive melody and gentle pianissimo chords. Gabriel Faure's famous "Sicilienne," from his requiem Pelleas et Melisande is another delicate selection that moves with all the grace and nuance of a dancer. Overall, the music here has few parallels. For those who seek inspiration, the classics may be the best place to look.
