Quatro anos separaram All Hope Is Gone (2008), quarto disco do Slipknot, de seu antecessor, Vol.3: (The Subliminal Verses) (2004). Neste tempo, os integrantes se envolveram em projetos paralelos bem-sucedidos, experiência que ajudou no aprofundamento das sonoridades do grupo. Neste trabalho eles utilizaram toques de thrash, rap e industrial, além de melodias surpreendentes que evidenciaram a evolução da banda. O álbum começa com grandes investidas em riffs pesados, densos e sombrios, como nas fortes "Gematria (The Killing Name)" e "Butcher's Hook". Depois, é preenchido por vários momentos de calmaria, como "Snuff", na qual o vocalista Corey Taylor apresenta seu vocal melódico e faz com que a música se aproxime muito de outras vertentes do rock não exploradas pelo Slipknot. Essa diversificação de sonoridades ajudou a banda a aumentar consideravelmente a base de fãs com este disco, com destaque para o hit "Psychosocial".

Resenha do Álbum
Quatro anos separaram All Hope Is Gone (2008), quarto disco do Slipknot, de seu antecessor, Vol.3: (The Subliminal Verses) (2004). Neste tempo, os integrantes se envolveram em projetos paralelos bem-sucedidos, experiência que ajudou no aprofundamento das sonoridades do grupo. Neste trabalho eles utilizaram toques de thrash, rap e industrial, além de melodias surpreendentes que evidenciaram a evolução da banda. O álbum começa com grandes investidas em riffs pesados, densos e sombrios, como nas fortes "Gematria (The Killing Name)" e "Butcher's Hook". Depois, é preenchido por vários momentos de calmaria, como "Snuff", na qual o vocalista Corey Taylor apresenta seu vocal melódico e faz com que a música se aproxime muito de outras vertentes do rock não exploradas pelo Slipknot. Essa diversificação de sonoridades ajudou a banda a aumentar consideravelmente a base de fãs com este disco, com destaque para o hit "Psychosocial".
