Only seven months after the release of their first album, the band of Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead and Tom Skinner, drummer of Sons of Kemet, releases a live album recorded last summer at the Montreux Festival...

Born during a lockdown livestream in May 2021, The Smile, the supergroup formed by Radiohead's Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood (+ their producer Nigel Godrich) with Shabaka Hutchings' Sons Of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner, released a stellar first album in May 2022, A Light for Attracting Attention.

The Smile - Thin Thing (Live At Montreux Festival)

The Smile

The trio took to the stage of the Montreux Jazz Lab on July 12th for a live performance in front of 2000 people, the best moments of which can be found on Live at Montreux Jazz Festival. The album starts with Pana-vision, a track that perfectly sets the scene for the album by juxtaposing Thom Yorke's laments and Skinner's percussive rhythms.

The Smile - Free In The Knowledge & A Hairdryer (Live At Montreux Festival)

The Smile

After a Thin Thing that's a bit messy at times, the groove of The Opposite, with a very mental riff from Greenwood, is unstoppable and confirms that these three truly bring out the best in each other. The only regret is the absence from the tracklisting of Bending Hectic, a new song that The Smile composed the same day in Montreux.
