As the head of the prestigious New York Metropolitan Opera since August 2006, Peter Gelb has quickly established himself as a major player on the international opera stage. An ex-manager of Vladimir Horowitz (and the great-nephew of Jascha Heifetz!), Gelb is committed to bringing the great opera house of New York into the age of new technology with Met Live, a programme which broadcasts operatic events from the four corners of the world in cinema theatres.
