Go Jazz

Go Jazz was started in 1990 by pianist / singer Ben Sidran and was active for more than a decade as a label dedicated to jazz players who were devoted to vocals and vocalists, who loved R&B as well as bebop and who were part of the greater jazzcommunity and so had lots of talented friends and partners to join them.  The productions initially featured Phil Upchurch, Georgie Fame, Bob Malach, Gege Telesforo, and Ben Sidran and included guest appearances by dozens of vocalists such as Van Morrison, Oscar Brown Jr., Mavis Staples, Boz Scaggs and Dr. John, as well as guest instrumentalists like Phil Woods, Stanley Turrentine and Jeff Beck.  As the catalog grew, it included relatively unknown artists such as Charlie Wood and celebrated instrumentalists like Will Lee.  Each recording was carefully crafted and spared no expense in capturing performances that were, hopefully, timeless and representative of the best the artist had to offer. The catalog was designed so that the various tracks could be “mixed and matched” — hence, over the years, the 60 plus recordings in the Go Jazz catalog generated over 500 classic performances.
