The Prettiots
With their sassy, no-nonsense lyrics and gently scuzzed but highly melodic indie pop, New York duo the Prettiots have garnered comparisons to the Moldy Peaches, though their obsessions with Law & Order and the movie Clueless put them in a strange league of their own. Formed in 2014 by singer and ukulele player Kay Kasparhauser, bassist Lulu Landolfi, and drummer Rachel Trachtenburg, they gigged around New York, building up their reputation and material. A stop at SXSW during their first national tour in 2015 resulted in a deal with Britain's Rough Trade Records, which issued a 7" of the Prettiots' wry single "Boys (That I Dated in High School)" later that summer. Their full-length debut was expected in early 2016.
