QL

Swiss punks QL are a fun-spirited cover band that debuted to Top Ten success in 2004 with the album Heimatschutz and maintained their success over the years that followed. Founded in 2001 in Biel, Switzerland, the band is comprised of Pät (bass, vocals), Stämpf (guitar, vocals), Sägi (guitar), and Tosi (drums). They made their full-length album debut in 2004 with Heimatschutz, a Swiss German dialect collection of covers performed in a punk style. Produced by Christoph Beyerlein, the album was a big hit, peaking at number six on the Swiss albums chart and spending six weeks straight in the Top Ten. Heimatschutz spawned the hit song "Ewigi Liäbi" and remains a fan favorite. The follow-up albums Luscht (2005) and Schwi!zerchracher (2007) were also big hits, both peaking at number three on the Swiss charts. These two follow-up albums were then compiled on the triple-disc collection Eurochracher (2008) along with a stand-alone EP with four different versions of the band's 2004 soccer anthem, "Hopp Schwiiz." Following some time away, QL returned in 2010 with their fourth album, Humba Tätärä (2010), another Top Five hit. Billed to QL and Pepe Lienhard Horns, it features the singles "Sonderzug Is Radio" and "I Liebe Di" and is largely comprised of original material.
