Luna Shadows

Luna Shadows is a Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and producer who creates haunting, lush pop with a touch of warmth. She first gained notice in the latter half of the 2010s with moody electro-pop singles like "Cry Wolf" and "Hallelujah California." After releasing an early EP, Youth, she made her full-length debut with 2021's Digital Pacific. Singles like "Witches' Brew" and "Little Rituals" appeared over the next few years, revealing a more guitar-driven indie rock approach. A classically trained pianist and vocalist from New York, Shadows attended the city's LaGuardia Arts High School before making her way to Los Angeles. Under the spell of her new West Coast home, she began recording dark, hooky pop that recalled forebears like Lana Del Rey and Lorde. Collaborating with producers Thom Powers (the Naked and Famous) and Brad Hale (Now, Now Every Children), she delivered her debut single, "Cry Wolf," in early 2016. Subsequent singles "Hallelujah California" and "Cherry" expanded on her dreamy pop sound and boosted her exposure ahead of 2017's Youth EP. More tracks followed, including "Be the One" and "Waves," as Shadows further developed her songwriting and studiocraft. The pieces all came together on 2021's Digital Pacific, an expansive 18-track album released by +1 Records that grew her audience significantly. During the next two years, Shadows' sound evolved away from her electronic origins as she embraced guitar-based songwriting. 2023's spectral guitar-and-strings track "Witches' Brew" was a turning point toward her new sound, which she further emphasized on the more upbeat "Little Rituals."
