Knut Jacques

Knut Jacques is a pianist and fortepianist who is noted for his thorough scholarship and historically informed performances. He attended the Paris Conservatoire, where he earned three degrees, and the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where he studied piano with Denis Pascal and Ruben Lifschitz, and fortepiano with Bart van Oort. He has also worked closely with Paul Badura-Skoda, Malcolm Bilson, Eric Hoeprich, Alessandro Moccia, and Kenneth Weiss. Appearing as a concerto soloist, chamber musician, and recitalist, Jacques has performed across Europe and Asia, and he has been a frequent guest of music festivals, including the Kyoto International Festival, the Académies Musicales des Saintes, and the French summertime festival, Les Chants de la Dore. On tour, Jacques has performed with the Orchestre des Champs-Eysées, and he has given lecture presentations at the Musée de la Musique in Paris. He has also taught in Paris and Burgundy. In 2012, he released an album of Chopin's solo piano works recorded in the spacious Pleyel Salon in Paris, where he played a Pleyel piano dating from 1843, and a Pleyel pianino constructed in 1834.
