Isata Kanneh-Mason

The eldest of the Kanneh-Mason siblings, Isata is pursuing a burgeoning career, as evidenced by her numerous awards: Opus Klassik 2020 for Best Emerging Artist, Leonard Bernstein Award 2021, Best Classical Artist at the Global Awards. Her debut album Romance - the Piano Music of Clara Schumann, released by Decca Classics in 2019, received rave reviews from the press and reached number one in the UK charts upon its release. It was followed by the solo album Summertime (2021) and the recent Muse, a duo with her brother, cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason.

Isata Kanneh-Mason was born in the UK in 1996 and grew up in Nottingham. Like most of her siblings, she attended the Royal Academy of Music in London where she studied with Hamish Milne and Carole Presland. In 2020 she was awarded a Master of Arts in Performance, the Royal Academy of Music's diploma awarded for an outstanding final performance. Since then she has performed as a solo artist in the most prestigious venues around the world. She can also be heard in chamber concerts, or performing with her siblings.

During the COVID-19 health crisis, Isata performed the first movement of Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto with five of her siblings in the spring of 2020 from her family's living room in a livestream that reached over one million views. She recently made her Wigmore Hall debut with a solo recital featuring the repertoire of female composers on International Women's Rights Day. In the 21/22 season, Isata will be performing as Young Artist in Residence with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Lena Germann/ Qobuz
