Ghoulunatics
Formed in 1994, Quebec, Canada's Ghoulunatics distinguish themselves from hyper-technical countrymen like Cryptopsy and Kataklysm with a looser style of "horror groove" death metal marked by rather amusing, not-so-serious lyrics. Their mostly self-released albums include 1996's Mystralengine, 1998's Carving into You, 2001's King of the Undead, 2004's It's a Live! and Sabacthany, and 2006's Cryogénie. A DVD titled Blood Curdling Years also emerged in 2005, and the band's latest lineup comprises vocalist Patrick Mireault, guitarists Francis Dubois and Patrick Gordon, bassist Gary Lyons, and drummer Brian Craig.
