Fijimacintosh

With dark, vaporous beats and Auto-Tuned flows that shift quickly from confident melodies to seething force, Atlanta-based rapper Fijimacintosh has a sound that's both pop-ready and apocalyptic. He went from posting tracks independently online to doing multiple collaborative songs with chart-topper Trippie Redd, exploring themes of despair, isolation, and disillusionment on tracks like 2022's "Fentanyl" and mixtapes like 2020's Beastboy and 2021's Elements. Fijimacintosh was born Tyvion Harris, growing up in Canton, Ohio. He moved to Atlanta with his mother when he was eight and was rapping as early as 2009, creating songs of his own and even performing live under the name Young TV. By the mid-2010s he had changed his performing name to Fijimacintosh and developed a futuristic sound that drew as much from rappers like Young Thug as it did alternative artists like Marilyn Manson. He frequently shared new singles online and in 2016 he supported Lil Uzi Vert on select tour dates. His buzz grew significantly, and in 2018 he released his debut mixtape, Satellite Crash, on the EMPIRE label. 2019's Teenage Disillusionment featured guest spots from Kid Trunks, Deko, IDK, and others. Fijimacintosh released subsequent projects like 2020's Beastboy independently. A 2021 release, Elements, was one of the first tracks that saw him collaborate fellow Canton, Ohio native Trippie Redd. The two collaborated on the Elements track "Diamond Crosses" before releasing the 2022 single "Fentanyl." In 2023, Fiji contributed to a track on Trippie Redd's Mansion Musik, an album that got as high as number three on Billboard's Top 200 chart and included features from a slew of platinum rappers. Around the same time as the release of Mansion Musik, Fijimacintosh released a new single, "Calvin Klein 205W39NYC," a heavy track with cyborg-sounding vocals from both Fiji and collaborator Noirillusions.
