Dizzy

The Canadian indie-pop band Dizzy catapulted itself into the mainstream with the 2018 debut album Baby Teeth, which won a Juno Award for "Alternative Album of the Year" in 2019. The band was formed several years earlier in 2015, when vocalist Katie Munshaw teamed up with multi-instrumentalists Alex Spencer, Mackenzie Spencer, and Charlie Spencer. Based in Oshawa, Ontario, Dizzy signed with the label Royal Mountain before recording Baby Teeth. Featuring singles like "Stars and Moons," "Swim," "Pretty Thing," and "Joshua," the album was a critical and commercial success, leading to two Juno Awards nominations (including "Breakthrough Group of the Year") as well as the aforementioned win for "Alternative Album of the Year." Dizzy toured internationally in support of the album, then returned to Canada to begin work on a second album. "Sunflower," the first track from the band's sophomore release, made its debut in February 2020. The full-length record The Sun and Her Scorch followed in July 2020 and received a nomination for "Alternative Album of the Year" one year, marking the band's second time being nominated in the category. An EP titled Separate Places was released in 2021, with a new single named "Barking Dog" arriving in 2022. "Barking Dog" was Dizzy's first release from the group's self-titled third album, Dizzy, which ultimately arrived in 2023.
