Diljit Dosanjh

Born on January 6, 1984 in the village of Dosanjh Kalan in Jalandhar district, Punjab, India, Diljit Dosanjh is one of the Indian music industry's brightest and boldest stars. The Punjabi polymath kicked off his singing journey while still at school, performing Sikh religious music (kirtan) at local gurdwaras. He made his recording debut in 2004 with the album Ishq Da Uda Ada, also releasing a follow-up LP that same year, Dil. His third album, Smile, produced by Sukhpal Sukh, helped to elevate his profile further and he went on to release another six LPs, including big-hitter The Next Level (2009), which enjoyed some international notoriety, and 2018's Roar. Diljit Dosanjh's eleventh studio album G.O.A.T. was released in July 2020. The LP was produced by various names including Desi Crew and The Kidd and was bolstered by guest appearances from Nimrat Khaira and Kaur B. Alongside his musical career, Diljit Dosanjh has built up an impressive acting portfolio, making his acting debut in The Lion of Punjab, which spawned a popular soundtrack and yielded a fruitful relationship with Indian music producer Honey Singh. In 2016 he starred in his first Hindi film, Udta Punjab, and in 2020, appeared in social satire Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari alongside Manoj Bajpayee and Fatima Sana Shaikh. 2021 ushered in the release of new Punjabi pop single, "Umbrella."
