Antonino Fogliani

Italian conductor Antonino Fogliani was trained by Vittorio Parisi at the Milan Conservatory of Music, and he studied composition with Francesco Carluccio at the Giovan Battista Martini Conservatory of Music in Bologna. He continued to pursue conducting at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, working with Gianluigi Gelmetti, and he studied composition with Franco Donatoni and Ennio Morricone. In 2001, Fogliani made his debut at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, and subsequently conducted at Teatro alla Scala, the Rome Opera, the Verona Philharmonic Theatre, La Fenice, and Teatro San Carlo. In 2011, he gave his first American performance with the Houston Grand Opera's production of Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor. In addition to conducting opera, Fogliani has also given orchestral concerts, appearing with the Orchestra dell' Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, the San Carlo Theater Orchestra in Naples, the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala, I Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, the Orchestre de Bretagne, and the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen. Fogliani has recorded for Naxos, Dynamic, Bongiovanni, and Arthaus Musik.
