Tom Howe
Language available : englishA British composer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Tom Howe is recognized for his work on film and television scores as well as for making off-kilter indie pop as a member of Adult Jazz. A former session musician in both the pop and classical spheres, his soundtrack work dates back to the late 2000s, when he started collecting credits for TV documentaries such as How the Celts Saved Britain (2009) and America: The Story of Us (2010). The reality series Love Thy Neighbor followed in 2011, the same year he and Gary Go provided music for the romantic comedy Love’s Kitchen. A steady stream of TV work followed over the next few years, including more documentaries and reality programs. In the meantime, Howe was welcomed as an official fourth member of the Leeds, England-based indie band Adult Jazz by founders Harry Burgess, Tim Slater, and Steve Wells. In addition to co-writing and performing with the group, Howe produced, engineered, and mixed Adult Jazz's debut album, Gist Is. It was released on their own label, Spare Thought, in 2014. Tours of the U.K. and appearances at music festivals such as CMJ and Latitude followed, as did a 2015 performance at David Byrne's Meltdown festival. The band's second album, Earrings Off!, arrived in the spring of 2016 via Tri Angle. Having relocated to Hollywood, Howe also scored the CNN series Finding Jesus (2015) and the Disney Channel’s The Lodge (2016), among other TV shows, as well as feature films such as Lost & Found (2016). His most high-profile work up to that point came when he provided additional music and programming for Rupert Gregson-Williams' score to the DC Comics blockbuster Wonder Woman, released in June 2017. He followed that with his own score to Professor Marston & the Wonder Women, a bio-pic about Wonder Woman's creator. Sony Classical released the Gregson-Williams-produced orchestral score to coincide with the film's opening in October 2017. In 2018, Howe's music could be heard in the Canadian animated film Charming, which featured voice acting by pop stars including Demi Lovato, Sia, Ashley Tisdale, and Avril Lavigne.
