After Ensemble Diderot rediscovered the trio sonatas by Mondonville and Meister and chamber music from Dresden, Berlin, London and Paris, the adventure seekers around South Tyrolean violinist Johannes Pramsohler are devoting themselves yet to another neglected genre: sonatas for three violins. Through the concentration of three instruments in the soprano range, these fabulous and unique pieces that they have brought together from collections all over Europe represent an exciting range of electrifying sonorities. Three violins competing in the quest to win the audience’s favour – just like the beauty contest of the three goddesses in the myth of the Judgment of Paris, a popular subject for the artists of the Baroque.
