Listening to Bruno Walter’s recordings, in light of the splendid remastered editions published by Sony Classical, you tap into a truly humanistic culture. A tremendous conductor, music was his vocation, a way of life and an art of thought. In 1967 Herbert von Karajan, one of the most outstanding performers of Sibelius' music, recorded a memorable version of the Sixth Symphony. His most beautiful version of this work and perhaps also his most fascinating Sibelius recording.
