A powerful but discreet voice of the Americana music genre: John Moreland is above all a composer sure of his own words, with aesthetic melodies and touching inflections galore. This fifth album from the Oklahoma songwriter, the suitably named LP5 is a new exercise in roots, rural folk, soft rocky country, blues and soul. The early years of Springsteen or Steve Earle are often not too far away. Moreland displays an original level of vulnerability when intimately exploring the theme of confession on LP5, which was directed by drummer/producer Matt Pence. The emotional depth of his singing, just like the sincerity of his words only highlight his melancholy and even his solitude. There aren’t many laughs but there’s certainly a lot of resonance on this beautiful album which projects a comfy sonic image. © Marc Zisman/Qobuz

Joni Mitchell: the Blue Period

An immaculate masterpiece of 70's folk, 'Blue' celebrates its 50th birthday this year. And it hasn't aged a day. But why are artists the world over still so fascinated by this fourth, intimate album by the Canadian singer-songwriter?

The 1000 Faces of Bowie

David Bowie, star and genius, never stopped reinventing himself throughout his fascinating, shape-shifting musical career. A unique case in the history of rock.

Kraftwerk, 50 Years Ahead of Their Time

Kraftwerk, the most influential electro group in history, founded by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider, who died of cancer on May 6, 2020, have always been ahead of their time. Ahead of technology, composition and stage performance, the Germans proved to the public that robots were also capable of emotion and paved the way for techno, new wave and even hip-hop.
