Telegraph Quartet

San Francisco-based string quartet known for its dedication to education, and for performing both standard and contemporary repertoire. Comprised of violinists Eric Chin and Joseph Maile, Pei-Ling Lin on viola, and cellist Jeremiah Shaw, the Telegraph Quartet is often praised for its harmonic brilliance, expressive dynamics, and passionate interpretations. Shortly after its formation in 2013, the group won the Grand Prize at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition of 2014. Two years later it was awarded the Walter W. Naumburg Chamber Music Award, and in 2017 it became the quartet-in-residence at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. In 2018, it released its debut album Into the Light on Centaur Records, which featured the works of Kirchner, Webern, and Britten. That same year, the group also performed its debut recital at Carnegie Hall, where it premiered Robert Sirota’s String Quartet No. 3: Wave Upon Wave. Other new music premieres include Sirota’s Contrapassos, and Osvaldo Golijov’s Ever Yours, octet. The Telegraph Quartet led the ChamberFEAST! education program in 2020 at high schools and universities in Taiwan and San Francisco, and the TeleLab interactive online video project. The group traveled to Vienna in 2022 and received coaching from Schoenberg scholar Henk Guittart for the 2023 release Divergent Paths: Schoenberg & Ravel.
