Sinden

With his thoroughly eclectic sets and strange but compelling productions and remixes, British DJ/producer Sinden has been one of the leading charges of the U.K. club scene of the second half of the 2000s, often being called the "British Diplo." He first gained notice through his Get Familiar club night at the prestigious London nightclub Fabric, where in the middle of his eclectic selection of house, electro, U.K. garage, and breakbeat, he became one of the first U.K. club DJ's to openly champion subgenres like B-more, favela funk, and reggaeton. The popularity of his club night grew to the point where he got his own mix-show at London's preeminent dance station Kiss 100, furthering his profile. Spreading his wings into production and remixing in 2005, his work gained acclaim for synthesizing the liberal approach of his DJ sets into one cohesive, appealing, rave-inflected sound. It didn't hurt that a similar path was being trodden simultaneously by people such as Switch, Jesse Rose, and Hervé, helping to form what the dance press started tagging "fidget house." It was with the latter of the aforementioned names that Sinden formed the joint the Count & Sinden project, which managed a monster world-wide club hit in the form of the Kid Sister-featured "Beeper" in 2008. After a stint as M.I.A.'s tour DJ during the promotion of Kala, Sinden released the praised Vol. 43 of the Fabric series of mix albums in 2009.
