Odeal

With smooth, relaxed vocals and instrumentals that fuse Afrobeat rhythms with lush R&B, London-based vocalist/songwriter Odeal transcends genre while experimenting with multiple styles at once. He brings global influences to songs crafted with a pop appeal, mixing Nigerian alté sounds into the rich production on projects like 2023's Thoughts I Never Said. Odeal spent his youth moving between Germany, Spain, Nigeria, and the U.K., and particularly absorbed the sounds of Nigerian music while he was attending boarding school there. He returned to London in 2017, at which point he began releasing music of his own, drawing on the Afrobeat/reggae/hip-hop hybrid sound he'd become familiar with in Nigeria, but also bringing his own vocal style and R&B overtones into the mix. Early independently released EPs like 2017's New Time and 2018's Pragma established Odeal's multi-genre style, dipping into elements of nocturnal R&B, rap, reggaeton, and more. He consistently released new singles, eventually offering up larger collections like the 2020 EP OVMBR: Roses and 2023's mixtape-length project Thoughts I Never Said.
